No central registry to record advance directives exists in Hong Kong, and the Commission has decided not to recommend its establishment, since the essence of the Commission’s proposals is that the existence and terms of a patient’s advance directive are non-mandatory. As a result, it is not possible to provide any estimate of the number of advance directives which have been completed in Hong Kong.
